Researcher Operating System §

Elsevier’s Research Operating System provides an integrated, central workspace (‘dashboard’) for scientific research, authoring, and publishing.

The ROS houses amongst others a literature library, user profile with extended networking features, scrapbook and note-taking abilities, currency awareness (stay informed in scientific domain or discipline), alerts, search, and an improved author submission and review workflow.

Brief §

  • Look at current researcher workflows, its future plans and consider past user research to improve these workflows. This can mean both the reduction of or the addition of features and/or the housing of features from different products in one central workspace.

  • Create significant efficiencies in the submission process for both authors and for Elsevier.

  • Create broader future concepts to improve these workflows. Review what steps in products and their workflows can be optimized or made more intuitive.

  • Deliver an HTML/CSS prototype to acquire feedback on the value of the concept and how to change and adapt it.
