ScienceDirect accessibility workgroup §

Project §
The Accessibility Workgroup provides recommendations and best practices to optimize product accessibility and work towards WCAG 2.0 AA conformance. The workgroup is a joint effort between accessibility specialists of the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, the Open Universiteit of Catalonia, State University Libraries Michigan, Indiana University, Kent State University, University of Minnesota, Ohio State University Web Accessibility Center, University of Washington and Reed Elsevier’s User Centered Design group.
Accessibility recommendations are incorporated into the UI style guide.
Initial audits were performed on existing products. The feedback gathered in this process is used to build an interface prototype using semantic, web standards-based HTML markup. This prototype was used by the workgroup to audit and to continuously iterate and improve upon.
